COVID-19 Safety Statement

Furry Weekend Atlanta 2022

September 17th, 2021

Our leadership team wants to remind our attendees, staff and volunteers that safety is always our highest priority.  The health and safety of our FWAmily is always the first consideration in our decision-making process.

We cannot know the state of the world in May of 2022, however, we understand that our community is curious about how we plan to host the safest possible event.  Think of this as “If Furry Weekend Atlanta was scheduled for this upcoming weekend, our policy would be…” The information below will very likely change as we get closer to FWA 2022.  This page will be updated as needed and will reflect the most current information available.

Furry Weekend Atlanta 2022 will comply with all safety guidelines and best practices set by the Centers for Disease Control, the State of Georgia Department of Public Health and the City of Atlanta at the time of the event.

It is impossible to totally prevent the spread of CoVID-19, but current science has proven that the combination of vaccination and the wearing of tight-fitting face coverings over the nose and mouth can drastically reduce the spread of the virus.

Furry Weekend Atlanta will require all attendees, staff members, volunteers, parents, talent and anyone else attending the event in person to be fully vaccinated against CoVID-19.  Showing proof of CoVID-19 vaccination will be required for access to the convention space.

To be considered fully vaccinated for the purposes of attending Furry Weekend Atlanta 2022, you must have received all required doses of any CoVID-19 vaccine that has met the safety and efficacy criteria of either the World Health Organization (WHO) or the US Food & Drug Administration (FDA) no later than Thursday, April 21st, 2022.

Furry Weekend Atlanta will accept any of the following as proof of vaccination so long as it reflects your full name, type of vaccine administered and date (s) of vaccine administration:

  • Original paper CDC vaccine card
  • Photocopy of original CDC vaccine card
  • Digital photograph or scan of original CDC vaccine card
  • Printed or digital vaccine record from a healthcare provider, government public health agency or appropriate Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) authorized to administer vaccinations
  • Digital “vaccine passport” product; commercial or governmentally sponsored

Furry Weekend Atlanta will require all attendees, staff members, volunteers, parents, talent and anyone else attending the event in person to wear a mask or appropriate cloth face covering over their nose and mouth at all times while in event spaces.  The only exception to this policy will be for live performances where the performers can maintain a minimum distance of 2 meters throughout the performance.

Examples of acceptable commercial masks are N95, KN95, PM 2.5 or surgical masks.  Cloth face coverings must snugly and completely cover the nose and mouth.  Masks with vents are not acceptable as they are not effective against transmitting the virus to others.  Masks must be worn under a fursuit head or other costume.

All attendees, staff members, volunteers, parents and anyone else attending the event in person will be required to adhere to the CoVID-19 health and safety policies in place at the time of the event.  Failure to comply with these policies will result in the cancellation of Furry Weekend Atlanta 2022 registration without refund and loss of access to all event spaces.
