As if all the wonderful activities, panels, and improved amenities are not enough to please even the most discerning fursuiters, we have even more to offer! Beginning with Furry Weekend Atlanta 2007, the fursuit track staff has been selecting two Guest Fursuiters to highlight during the convention - fursuiters who have made notable accomplishments in the areas of costume character performance and/or construction, either inside or outside the fandom.
Whenever you see our Guest Fursuiters at the con, be sure to say 'Hi' and give them a big hug and a scritch. Amongst other special duties, they will be leading off our parades and heading up the teams in our fursuit games. They will also be at many of our fursuiting panels, sharing their knowledge and experience with anyone who wants to learn more about fursuiting. Be sure to stop by and see them at their Fireside Chat on Saturday evening, where you'll be able to talk with them in a relaxed casual environment.
We have not yet selected our Guest Fursuiters for Furry Weekend Atlanta 2009, but in the meantime you can read about our Guest Fursuiters for Furry Weekend Atlanta 2008:
Please join us in congratulating our 2008 Guest Fursuiters: Gilmore Lion and Lucky the Evil Dog!
Lucky the Evil Dog is just your run-of-the-mill, mascot-for-hire, performer / all around great guy. He's not so evil as he thinks, but more along the Mischievous lines. He's a serious people-watcher cause who else is better to mimic than ordinary people?! If you are unsure of what its like in a suit or are just starting out and would love to better define who your character is while you are walking around in it, then introduce yourself to him and he'll help ya out. Or just check out one of his performance panels at the con... Just beware, if you see Ooga Chaka, his Purple Furry Eater suit walking around, you've been warned...
Gilmore Lion has been an active fursuiter since the early eighties, and began designing and building his own suits about the same time. He started competing them at various sci-fi conventions, and his "Rocket Raccoon" costume landed him in Starlog Magazine. The rest, as they say, is history. Since that time, he has been a professional sports mascot, a freelance character, any number of advertising characters, as well as building costumes for customers all around the country. Stage performing is his first love, but he's constantly testing the waters with new suit ideas and concepts through his own company, LionsPaw Mascots. He's probably best known as MFM's fursuited emcee for it's Fursuit Games.
